The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards exists to support the campus community based on the principles set forth in the Duke Community Standard - honesty, trustworthiness, fairness, and respect for others. There are several ways students, staff, and faculty can become involved: Conduct Board (students, staff, and faculty), OSCCS Interns (Duke students), and Community Standard Advisors (CSA) (students, staff, and faculty).
Conduct Board Member (CBM)
Are you passionate about fairness, integrity, and student development? Consider becoming a Conduct Board member (CBM)—a group of students, staff, and faculty dedicated to maintaining a respectful and accountable university community.
As a CBM, you will:
- Adjudicate conduct cases involving alleged violations of university policy via a conduct board hearing via a three-person panel;
- Help determine whether students
- Provide guidance and support to students involved in the disciplinary and non-disiplinary process—whether they are under investigation, or are preparing for their upcoming administrative conference, administrative hearing, or Amnesty meeting;
- Attend conduct board hearings as a non-speaking advisor to respondents; selected advisors will not be able to serve as a panelist during the same conduct board hearing.
- By joining the Conduct Board team, you will develop valuable leadership, decision-making, and guidance
Honor Council
Would you like to help shape the university community culture rooted in respect and honor? Consider joining the Duke University Honor Council—a dedicated group of students committed to upholding and promoting the Duke Community Standard.
As an Honor Council member, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Plan, lead and support events that foster communication, ension ethical decision-making
- Collaborate on policy work and outreach to strengthen community values
- Serve as an ambassador for fairness, honesty, and accountability both within and beyond the university
Honor Council contains one central mission: encouraging all members of the Duke community to uphold all policies associated within the Duke Community Standard:
- I will not lie, cheat, or steal in my academic endeavors.
- I will conduct myself honorably in all my endeavors.
- I will act if the Standard is compromised.
