Associate Dean of Students
Happily representing "America's Finest City" with a dash of southern hospitality, Associate Dean Aaron Lash Jr. joined Duke University in 2019 as a Residence Coordinator (RC) on the East Campus within Housing & Residence Life. Dean Lash Jr. served as the Senior Program Coordinator for OSCCS in 2022 before being promoted to Assistant Dean of Students and later Associate Dean of Students. Dean Lash Jr. firmly believes there can be beauty in the struggle, strength in showcasing vulnerability and resiliency, and that students aren't bad, but like all humans, they have bad moments. Dean Lash Jr. loves having authentic, transparent, and restorative conversations with students about academic and non-academic misconduct to facilitate applied knowledge and improve future decision-making.
Dean Lash Jr. obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology (Social Service Track) from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) and a Master of Education degree in Higher Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University. Outside of Duke and in his spare time, Dean Lash Jr. enjoys binge-watching various TV shows (Shoutout to the creators of This is Us, How to Get Away with Murder, The Rookie, Power, and Scandal), traveling, attending concerts, and rooting for the Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Heat. Dean Lash, Jr. is a proud native of San Diego, California.
