Assistant Dean of Students

Assistant Dean Shelvis Ponds, Jr. has nearly a decade of experience in higher education, with particular expertise in crisis management, residence life, racial equity, assessment, and restorative practices. Dean Ponds, Jr. has obtained a B.A. in English from Clemson University; an M.Div. from Duke Divinity School; and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University. Further, Dean Ponds, Jr. also holds certificates in project management and non-profit management, both from Duke University. Dean Ponds, Jr. lives in Durham and loves to explore the sights and sounds of the city on Saturdays with loved ones.
